Terrazzo floor tile typically retails at between $5 and $30 per sq/ft. and installation costs between $4 and $15 per sq/ft. Poured terrazzo is more expensive with an average price range of between $20 and $80 per sq/ft installed. Residential terrazzo floors have been trending lately.

While faux terrazzo may look like real terrazzo, it does not share its physical characteristics. Because the system uses decorative flakes or paint chips, faux terrazzo is thinner at a maximum of 1/16″ thickness. As a result, it is far less resistant to the common wear expected in commercial buildings.

One of the disadvantages of terrazzo is that the surface does not retain heat well during the winter months, making the floor feeling a tad cold. Unless you have a heat insulator beneath the terrazzo, this may cause discomfort to those who walk across the floor barefoot.
